Born in East London (UK) and raised in Essex, Private Pickle was a child of the UK Garage generation.
DJing since the age of 14, music played a fundamental part of his upbringing. The late teens saw him displaying an eclectic mix of UK Garage, Drum & Bass and Hip Hop on local pirate radio stations.
Always holding DJing and moreover music as a core interest, it wasn’t until 14 years after gracing a set of Technic 1210’s that Private Pickle decided to make a life change from a successful city job in London to pursue his dreams of travel and music. Before departing the UK to travel the world, Pickle became a regular name at a local bar, played several private mansion parties and co-promoted and played at raves in Essex (support for Secondcity, UK) and East London (headlining b2b with Woody2Shoes, UK).
Since arriving to Australia in the early part of 2014 Pickle has traveled the majority of the country energizing himself with creativity and grounding his true purpose. He earned a 4 week feature at Casbah in Cairns, QLD where he played alongside one of London based duo Syncretic. He spent 7 months in Sydney immersed in self-taught music production before journeying through central Australia and WA to finally settle in the beautiful Margaret River.
A travelling experience to change him forever, Pickle explored both the beauty without and the darkness within. A bitter taste of self-exploration has been truly liberated to leave a passion for purpose.
“And, when you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.”
Paolo Coelho, The Alchemist.
This couldn’t be a truer fate for Pickle as he established a life in little old ‘Margies’. An abundance of truly gifted musicians and more importantly great human beings has surrounded him to aid in his development as an artist.
In the short time he has lived in his new home town, Pickle has acquired residency at one of the hottest new venues in town (Brewhouse), played at the Lunar Circus NYE party, Busselton Beer Festival, the Emergence Creative Festival 2016 and also Western Australia’s interpretation of Burning Man, Nevada; Blazing Swan.
Looking forward, this year will be his busiest to date. Gigs are already filling the diary around his continued Brewhouse Sunday Session for the upcoming summer season. A recent home studio set up will facility the continuation of his production projects, and his new business umbrella ‘Pickalicious’ will host all of this plus other music & artistic collaborations, event co-ordination and wedding services.
